Duality of Life and Death Drives in the Human Psyche: Libido and Mortido

Duality of Life and Death Drives in the Human Psyche: Libido and Mortido.

These drives, also known as instincts, encompass intrapsychic attitudes. Within each of us lies an instinct propelling us both toward both life and death, where the term "drive" is interchangeable with instinct. Essentially, one's instincts are what propel and guide them. These opposing forces, representing theYour mind is intricately intertwined with this world. spectrum of life and death, perpetually chase each other in a continuous cycle, resembling a wheel.

The interplay of psychic motives resembles the yin and yang, where opposing elements chase each other in circles, and in doing so, they justify one another.

This cycle can be visualized as follows:
> Projections of the instinct (acute & extreme)
> —
> The instinct (1)
> —
> Stasis (0)
> —
> Rinse and repeat

The resulting correlation aligns with the extremes, creating an indeterminate process. This process refuses to commit, constantly changing its stance and statement every second, embodying an inherent indeterminacy.

This is seen when children are born from you as an adult, your children will take your youth. Your energy is given to feed them and you soon wither away and you will return to the earth as you’re eaten away by worms and bacteria

This model inherently involves a continuous dance between opposing forces, representing life and death instincts. Through this constant interplay, its implied that individuals have the opportunity to integrate these opposites, leading to a more balanced and holistic understanding of the self, but unfortunately not promised. Though the very nature of these opposing forces creates an inherent conflict within that may never be fully resolved as they are opposing(despite moving and justifying one another). I believe equilibrium and balance may be temporary and new challenges may arise in the cycle due to instability and unpredictability in some.

The tension between life and death instincts could also be seen as an inherent aspect of human existence. This tension could be the driving force behind questions of meaning, purpose, and the constant existential inquiry that characterizes human life.
